Buy water-repellent fabric
Water-repellent fabrics are ideal for projects that need protection against moisture, wind or dirt. This category includes raincoat fabric and other fabrics with a water-resistant or water-repellent finish.
Use these fabrics to make raincoats, rain ponchos, dog coats, bags, wipe-clean bibs, highchair covers, bicycle saddle covers and various protective covers. With different colours, prints and qualities available, you can find a suitable fabric for both children’s and adult projects.
The exact properties vary per fabric. Some fabrics are water-repellent, while other qualities are almost waterproof. The weight, flexibility and level of wind protection may also differ. Always check the individual product description to determine whether the fabric is suitable for your project.
Please note that moisture can enter through stitching holes and seams. If you want to make your project as waterproof as possible, finish the inside of the seams with waterproof seam-sealing tape. Always check that the tape is suitable for your chosen fabric.
